The closing ceremony of the 48-day long fiesta, the South Indian Bank Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF), will be held on February 3 at Palakkad.
An organising committee to oversee the successful conduct of the concluding ceremony was constituted at a meeting held at Palakkad on January 14.
The chief patron of the committee is Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. The patrons are Opposition leader V S Achudanandan, Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty, Finance Minister KM Mani, Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash.
The Committee will be chaired by Tourism Minister AP Anil Kumar. The working chairman is Shafi Parambil, MLA and general convener Tourism Secretary Suman Billa. Nine sub committees have also been formed.
The meet held at the Palakkad Collectorate Conference Hall was inaugurated by Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar. District Collector Ali Pasha delivered the welcome note. The meet was presided over by Palakkad MLA Shafi Parambil. GKSF Director U V Jose addressed the gathering.
The organising committee has decided to hold the concluding ceremony at the Palakkad Municipal stadium. The inauguration will be followed by a three-hour entertainment programme. The stage will also be the venue for the GKSF 6th weekly draw and the GKSF mega draw.
