"A house is not complete without a sculpture in front and a painting inside", according to Kanayi Kunhiraman, an artist who has cemented his status as one of India's best sculptors with some truly stunning works of public art.
He is, now, on a mission to bring high art into ordinary homes by spearheading a unique festival. The Contemporary Art Fair is being held under the aegis of the South Indian Bank Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF), an annual project of Kerala's Department of Tourism, now in its sixth season.
The fair, which was inaugurated on January 3 at Kanakakunnu here, is on till January 26.
Kanayi wants the state government to take the lead in popularising art purchase and art collection in Kerala.
