Govt staff call off strike
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 14 (UNI)
Pro-Left Democratic Front state employees and teachers in Kerala today called off their week-old strike against the proposed contributory pension scheme following talks with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
The employees union said they decided to withdraw the strike in view of the assurance from the government that employees and teachers would get a minimum pension even after the implementation of the contributory pension scheme.
However, the Chief Minister said the government would go ahead with the proposal to implement the contributory pension scheme from April 1 this year.
Finance Minister K M Mani was also involved in discussions with the employees.
