IUML to ally with Cong, DMK in next LS poll
The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will have alliance with the Congress and the DMK in the next Lok Sabha elections, according to party's National Secretary K M Khader Mohiden.
Addressing a press conference here last night, Pro Khader Mohideen also pointed out that the party was now having alliance with the Congress party in Kerala.
The party had constituted a three-member panel to decide on alliance with parties in other states, he said, adding the panel had been asked to submit its report before March end. Based on the panel's report the party high command would decide the alliance in remaining states in the country, he added.
He said the two-day meeting of the party's office bearers and Youth wing leaders will be held in New Delhi on March 9 and 10. The meeting will discuss among other things, amendment in the existing party's basic rules, strengthening party base across the country and training the party office bearers.
He said the party was also going to take out a national-level rally in March to urge the Union Government to implement the Sachar Committee recommendations.
He said the Election Commission had recognised the party and approved ladder symbol for the party. The party would contest on the symbol here after in all the elections, he added.
