Platform shoes make women look heavier
Cherished for their reliable comfort, platform shoes have spent more than a quarter of a century taking over the stiletto as a woman's heel of choice.
But with this season's return to thinner-soled shoes, Vogue has declared that the reign of the platform, which they believe "enlarges the lower part of our bodies," is over, the Daily Mail reported.
Shoe designer and stylist Tabitha Simmons feels that when the shoe is big and clunky, one can look a bit heavier.
Jimmy Choo creative director, Sandra Choi, agreed, saying that single soles have a daintier feel and enhance female curves in the legs and calf area.
While Choi admitted that platform shoes help a woman appear taller, she believes that any heightening benefits are lost by a universal inability to stride gracefully in chunky soles.
