Police to conduct medical examination on Owaisi
Andhra Pradesh Police decided to conduct an medical examination of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi, who failed to appear before Nirmal police station in 'hate speech' case today due to ill-health, tomorrow.
As per the Investigation Officer (IO) of Nirmal Rural police Mr A Raghu, the MIM leader is in fit condition to face investigation and police enquiry, Warangal Range IG Mr A B Venkateswara Rao told reporters here tonight.
However, Akbaruddin complained of 'internal pains' and as a result to ascertain his health condition, the police department has decided to conduct an medical examination on Owaisi tomorow with subject to availability of government doctors and the situation.
The medical examination will be conducted at a hospital or any place, the police officer said.
The police decided in this regard after Owaisi did not appeared before the Nirmal police station and on behalf of him, one of the legal council appeared and handed over a letter stating that MIM leader's health was in bad condition.
In the backdrop of Akbaruddin seeking four-days time to appear before the Nirmal police due to health grounds, Investigation Officer visited MIM MLA at his residence in posh Banjara hills here this evening to ascertain his health condition.
Though IO found that MIM leader is in fit condition to face questioning in hate speech, the leader complained 'internal pains, however, the police department took a decision to conduct an medical examination on him, the IG added.
To a question, the IG said every thing will be held as per the procedure and law and decision taking accordingly.
