Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Mr V.Dinesh Reddy today inaugurated the pilot Go-Live of CCTNS Project at Madhapur police station of Cyberabad Commissionerate, here.
Talking to reporters after launching the project, the DGP said it is nationwide project connected to MHA,NCRB, New Delhi and all State capitals and Union Territories of the country and is a significant land mark in making police more assessible transparent and citizen friendly. Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) is a Mission Mode Project under the National E-Governance Plan of Government of india being implemented by Ministry of Home Affairs, he said National Crime Records Bureau is the nodal agency at national level for the project.
The CCTNS pilot project today launched in the three units --Cyberabad, West Godavari and Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, the DGP said the remaining districts and units in the state will be completed in second phase by September 2013.
The project will help citizens in getting the police services alone, knowing the case status online, enabling citizen to provide information to police and providing interface with other departments like Prisons, RTA, passport,Civil supplies, Election Commission and FSL, he said it will also enhance the performance of police department and will enable it to serve the citizens in a better and more effective way.
Keeping in view the urgent National need for digitization of Data Bases on Crime and Criminals and for sharing Information with all the stakeholders in the system and to meet challenges of crime control and maintenance of public order effectively, the planning commission of India has included the new scheme of CCTNS in 11thh Five year plan (2007-2012), he said.
