Awareness campaign on direct cash transfer scheme

East Godavari District Collector Neethu kumary has launched the awareness campaign on direct cash transfer scheme by flagging off the 'Publicity vans' at a function held at the Collectorate here today.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that the publicity vans of the field publicity wing of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would tour the villages in Tuni, Rajahmundry and Amalapuram Areas and give wide publicity to the Aadhaar based direct benefit transfer scheme by organising cultural programmes.

She said the beneficiary would directly receive the benefit under various schemes with the cash transferred to their bank accounts.

The Business Correspondents authorized by the banks approaches the beneficiaries with the micro ATMs at their door steps and deliver the cash relieving them of the ordeal of going round the banks or the post offices to withdraw the money. East Godavari District is in the forefront than other districts in Aadhaar enrollment.

Some persons though enrolled are yet to receive their Aadhaar Cards and some more are yet to get themselves enrolled. To expedite enrollment, as many as 60 Aadhaar enrollment centers are opened, the Collector said.

Under the Aadhaar seeded public distribution system, she said, the ration cardholders can now draw their ration from any ration shop in the country.
