Prof S S Murthy appointed new VC of Central varsity of Karnataka

Prof S S Murthy, senior professor at IIT, Delhi, has been appointed as the vice chancellor of Central University of Karnataka.
He took charge from in-charge vice chancellor Dr Chandrashekhar here today.
Speaking to reporters after taking the charge Dr Murthy said president had called the meeting of all central universities vice chancellors at Delhi on February 5 for ensuring quality education at college level.
'Universities should not become certificate issuing centres but should ensure high quality education,' he said.
In the coming days the CUK would start new programmes including outreach and distance education across the country. It would soon shift to its own campus near Kadaganchi village which is 17 km away from city where the construction work is near complatge. After shifting more courses will be introduced, he said.
