Police today arrested City Corporation councillor Vijay Kumar Paranjipe in connection with the murder of a real estate agent on January 2.
Police said the councillor was arrested in Sholapur in Maharashtra as he went underground following the murder of Balakrishna, the real estate agent.
A police release said following interrogation, the councillor had confessed to killing Balakrishna over a property deal.
The corporator had entrusted Balakrishna of selling of a house site belonging to a Bijapur resident nearly one year ago. After Balakrishna struck a deal and sold the property for Rs 23 lakh, the Rs 21 lakh advance amount received from the buyer was handed over to Vijay Kumar.
