Couple killed, 5 hurt as van hits tree
Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, Jan 6 (UNI)
An elderly couple was killed on the spot and five others critically injured when their van hit a roadside tree at Melaselvanur village on the East Coast Road, here today.
Police said the deceased were identified as Ramasamy (64) and his wife R Soodi Nachiar (60), hailing from Melakaram village in Tirunelveli district.
The driver of the van lost control over the vehicle which hit the roadside tree. Five other occupants of the van, including the driver, were critically injured in the mishap and were admitted to the government hospital, here.
