Warne blasts 'scared of batting' suggestions
Legendary leg spinner Shane Warne has blasted suggestions he is afraid to bat.
The Melbourne Stars captain drew criticism on Thursday night when he opted to bat at No.11 behind Lasith Malinga in a run chase at the Gabba, then seemingly issued instructions for the Sri Lankan to play no shots, News.com.au reports.
But as he prepared for Sunday night's crucial Big Bash League derby against the Melbourne Stars at the MCG, Warne brushed off the question with scorn.
Warne said he heard in the nets with the boys saying that everyone was saying I don't want to bat, and added that he doesn't mind going out to bat.
Warne added that when you need 28 off five balls and the (net) run rate is going to be super crucial, we didn't wanted to get bowled out in that match.
Warne further said that he is happy to bat, do whatever the team needs him to do, adding that he is not scared of batting.
