2 killed, 22 injured in two accidents in Karnataka
Two people were killed on the spot and 22 seriously injured in two different accidents in the district today.
In the first incident, two people died and two others injured when the car in which they were traveling collided head on with Andra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation bus (APRTC) near Menkeerra cross on NH-9.
The accident occurred when the bus driver was trying to overtake a lorry.
Police said a six-member family, residents of Mehboobnagar Town of Andhra Pradesh, were returning home from Shirdi after a pilgrimage.The bus was heading towards Sholapur from Hyderabad.
Deceased are identified Beekshapati (35), who was driving ill fated car and Narsimulu (38).
Both are said to be brothers.
Among injured identified was 45-year-old Ramalu and his wife Ramalamma (40) and their two sons Sridhar (11) and Shivkumar (18), sources said.
Health condition of Ramlamma and Shivkumar was said to be serious and they were shifted to private hospital in Bidar.
In the other accident, 20 people were injured when a maxi cab carrying them turned turtle near Alur Village in Aurad taluk of district.
Majority of the injured were teenagers and four of them had received serious injuries and were shifted to Government Hospital in Bidar.
