The 'Ration Bachao' (Save Ration) Action Committee today took out a morcha to district collector's office to protest against government policy of cash subsidy scheme on foodgrains, kerosene and domestic gas and rising inflation in the country.
Thousands of people, led by All India Fair Prise Shop Dealers Association (AIFPSDA) general secretary Vishwembhar Basu, gathered in historical Khasbag maidan at Mirjkar Tikti and marched to district collectorate amidst slogan-shouting against government.
A delegation led by Mr Yadav met district collector Rajaram Mane and handed over a memorandum of their demands.
Later, Mr Yadav said their demands are government should make available about 14 domestic articles including wheat, rice, kerosene and gas to people through fair price shops, computerization of public distribution system, to give grains to 70 percent people as per BPL rates as given in Tamil Nadu and Chhatisgarh, to give 12 subsidized domestic gas cylinders in a year, instead of only six in a year.
He added that they also protested against government's policy of cash subsidy, which started from yesterday in select districts of the country, and demanded all domestics articles should be made available through fair price shops.
