Munde demands special session to discuss irrigation scam
Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde today demanded that the state government convene a special session of the state assembly to discuss only the irrigation scam during the past 12 year's rule of Congress-NCP.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Munde said that the opposition parties had refused to accept the formation of the Madhavrao Chitale committee to probe the scam.
He said the committee's terms of reference is just to know the potential of the irrigation projects and not to inquire into illegalities in irrigation department of Rs 70,000 crore during the past 12 years rule of Congress-NCP rule in the state.
Mr Munde alleged that Irrigation Minister Sunil Tatkare and Former Irrigation Minster and State Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was involved in the scam. Both the ministers should keep away from the ministry, he said and demanded that the guilty be punished.
He demanded that a SIT team comprising Police officers probe the entire scam and then the truth will come out.
Mr Munde declared that after January 15 he will personally visit the irrigation projects in the state, whose costs were increased as compared to its original estimates.
