CSB Member Secretary Roy assumes charge as ISC Secretary Gen
Central Silk Board (CSB) Member Secretary Ishita Roy today assumed charge as International Sericultural Commission (ISC) Secretary General.
Ms Roy was elected in a closely contested election during the ISC conference in Romania recently.
The ISC, an inter-governmental organisation of silk producing countries, was instituted during 1960 based on an international treaty. The headquarters of ISC was shifted here from Lyon and it started functioning from today.
The ISC has been instrumental in the development of silk industry in many countries, including India. The term is for three years.
