Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Ltd (APEPDCL) today said, the company was taking all measures to reduce the distribution losses.
Addressing a media conference here, he said the company had achieved distribution losses of below five percent upto December 20'2012 and it will reduce further by the end of March next year.
He said the company had also achieved metered sales of 84.34 per cent till November this year as against 81.21 per cent during the corresponding period of previous year.
He said to ensure reliable power supply on rural feeders especially to agriculture consumers, for reducing line losses the High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS) had been adopted in all the five districts, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Eest Godavari and West Godavari.
He said out of the 85 substations sanctioned with an amount of Rs 108 crores this year, 28 sub stations charged so far upto December this year and the balance 57 would be completed by March next year.
He said works had already stared in 2012 which were under progress for conversion of 18615 agricultural pump sets to HVDS with an amount of Rs 100 crores in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam circles.
He said an amount of Rs 16.94 crores was sanctioned under new scheme Decentralized Distribution Generation (DDG) for electrification of 57 Un-electrified tribal habitations in nine mandals of visakhapatnam district to provide power with the help of solar based system. As per action plan for 2013-14, Nadeem said another 28 33/11 KV substations will be taken up in 2013-14 with a cost of Rs 34 crores. He said the APEPDCL at present having 600 numbers of 33/11 KV under its jurisdiction. He said 20,213 pump sets proposed for conversion to HVDS in Eleru in West Godavari and Rajahmundry circles in East Godavari during the year 2013-14 with a cost of Rs 140 crores.
Under Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Restructured Project (R-APDRP) part B scheme it was proposed to take up improvement works in eight towns with a cost of Rs.52 crores during 2013-14.
He also said the company proposed to take up improvement works including underground cabling in visakhapatnam at a cost of Rs 356 crores and the proposals had already been submitted to the government of India for sanction.
He said for energy saving, it was proposed for providing 56 Watts LED yard light fixtures by replacing the existing 150 Watts HPSV lamps in 600 of 33/11 sub stations covering all five operation cirlces under its jurisdiction.
He said the company has decided to install 200 Auto Switched Line Capacitors on selected 11 KV feeders to improve the power factor which would lead to reduction in technical losses, there by saving energy.
