Sports meet for special children

Chingari Rehabilitation Centre, working for the rehabilitation of physically and mentally deformed children born due to the Bhopal gas tragedy, on Thursday organised a two-day sports meet, here.

The rehabilitation center run by Chingari Trust trained the children in accordance with their disabilities and age and made them participate in the events with the help of sports coaches Ajay Singh and Narendra Chauhan.

The annual sports meet held on Dec 27 and 28 was inaugurated in presence of Bhopal District Collector Nikunj Shrivastav.

The children of different age groups and different kinds of disability participated in various sports activities like athletics, wheel chair race, skipping on race, skipping on the plane, badminton, football, basketball, crab walking, tricycle race and bocce.

At present Chingari Trust treats about one hundred and fifty children from gas and water affected families who come regularly to Chingari Rehabilitation Centre and receive various facilities like pick and drop facility, speech therapy, sports, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, supplementary nutrition and sports, free of cost.
