Veteran footballer S A Majeed died

Veteran football player S A Majeed died of old age here yesterday.

He was 88. He is survived by his wife, four sons and two daughters.

He had played for Mohammedan Sporting, in the Kolkata league from 1947 to 52, Durand Cup, Rovers cup, Sikimm Gold cup, DCM Trophy, Sait Nagjjee Cup and Chakola Cup Kerala. In 1952 he started the Mohammedan Sporting Club in Bangalore, affiliated to the KSFA. He represented the team in Doulth Khan Trophy and in Stafford Challenge Cup also.

He Played for Shantilal, the then Famous Football club at Mumbai 1952 - Bangalore Muslims a famous team then.

He was a good inside Left. He also played along with Olympian Ahmed Khan of LRDE and the stalwart Kempaiah.

He had served Bangalore District Football Association as a Managing Committee Member for 18 yrs till he was active. He was BDFA Chairman for a shot period in 2004-05.

The body was laid to rest today at ShanatiNagar Muslim Cemetery.

Members of KSFA, including its President A R Khalleel and BDFA have condoled death of Majeed.
