Delhi Government announces ex-gratia of Rs.4 lakh each to next of kin of drowned students
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has expressed her deepest condolences over the sad demise of five promising students of Delhi who lost their lives in Kerala while attending the National Trekking Camp organized by the NCC. She described this as the most unfortunate incident. Dikshit announced that her Government would release an ex-gratia amount of 4 lakh each to the next of kin of diseased students of Delhi.
One of the boys was student of the Sr. Secondary Boys School, Kalkaji and other three were students of Jamia Millia Islamia and one was studying in Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi.
Dikshit met the members of the families alongwith Defence Minister A.K. Antony and Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy at the airport where the bodies were brought to Delhi from Kerala.
