BSE Sensex dips on caution
The BSE Sensex fell 0.48 percent on Thursday as market bellwether Reliance Industries slipped on profit-taking and IT shares tumbled on outlook concerns.
The 30-share benchmark index ended 93.66 points lower at 19,323.80 with 21 of its components closing in the red.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 0.60 percent or 35.50 points lower at 5,870.10 on Thursday.
The expiry of derivatives led to record volumes in futures and options as investors grew cautious with just three trading sessions left for the year.
Meanwhile in the New Delhi bullion market, gold rose by Rs 90 to Rs 31,220 per 10 grams while silver held steady at Rs 58,000 per kg.
