Priority for Telugu in legislative affairs: Speaker

Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar said priority would be accorded for Telugu usage in state legislative affairs.

He told mediapersons in Rajahmundry today that efforts were being made to ensure that the nomenclature used in legislative affairs contain Telugu words.

Speaking on the importance of World Telugu conference to be held at Tirupati, he said it was part of the attempts to highlight the glory of Telugu Language and culture to other countries besides preserving the Telugu heritage and tradition.

Later, the Speaker laid a foundation stone for the construction of Rs 25 lakh Stree Sakthi Bhavan at Narayanapuram.

He said the members of the women self-help groups should constantly supervise the building construction to ensure quality.

The Speaker also laid a foundation stone for the construction of additional rooms for the age old Gouthami Library.

MP Arun Kumary said he would earmark funds from the MPLADS for giving a face lift to the library. District Collector Neethu Kumary, Joint Collector Babu Ahmed, MP Vundavalli Arunkumar, city MLA Routhu Suryaprakasarao were among those who attended.
