Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly today demanded a CBI inquiry into the murder of Harihara Varma, reportedly a member of the royal family of the erstwhile princedom of Mavelikara.
In a statement here, the Opposition leader demanded the CBI inquiry into the yesterday's murder alleging that the crime was for stealing of precious stones and diamonds.
"People want to know whether the precious stones and diamonds belong to any temple or palaces," he added.
A senior member of the Mavelikara Palace clarified that Varma was not the member of their family.
It was alleged that precious stones worth Rs 300 crore was stolen by the miscreants after killing the 60-year-old man at his residence at Kanjirampara near here.
