Kerala has bagged four out of the nine IBN7 Diamond States Awards. Kerala was adjudged the 'Best Big State' in the award categories of Education, Environment, Health and Poverty Reduction.
'The recognition in the form of IBN7 Diamond State Awards is highly motivating and also reminds us of the responsibility to continue with our efforts to transform Kerala into a model State in India,' Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said in a press release here today.
This is the fourth edition of Diamond States Awards of IBN7 that recognize states contributing significantly, in human and social development.
The award categories coming under 'Best Big State' and 'Best Small State' include core infrastructure, citizen security, education, employment, environment, healthcare, poverty reduction, water and sanitation and women empowerment.
There are also special awards for Best Emerging Big State, Best Emerging Small State, Best Big State and Best Small State. On behalf of the Kerala Government, Minister for Health V S Shivakumar and Minister for Panchayats Dr M K Muneer received the awards from Speaker of Lok Sabha, Meira Kumar, at a function held in New Delhi, an official release said today. National leaders, chief ministers and other key personalities were present during the awards ceremony.
The selection procedure of IBN7 Diamond States Awards is a multi-pronged and comprises a nationwide survey covering a sample size of 10,000 respondents; an online survey reaching out to 7,500 respondents and secondary research scouring data available on government websites.
The survey data was then analyzed by KPMG, the knowledge partner for the IBN7 Diamond States Awards initiative. It was just couple of weeks back that Kerala won the Web Ratna Award instituted by the Union Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Earlier this year, the State had won the 'State of the States' award for governance instituted by India Today.
