Rupee ends at 55.06 against US Dollar, 1-month-low
The Rupee remained weak for the second session today, as it tumbled by 21 paise to 55.06, a one-month-low, against the US Dollar on persistent demand for the greenback from banks and importers, dealers at the inter-bank foreign exchange said.
The domestic unit slipped by 35 paise in the opening trade.
It remained under pressure throughout the day. it had depreciated by 40 paise during the day.
At the end of the session, it closed at 55.06, down by 21 paise as compared with its last close.
It registered the day's high and low at 55.25 and 54.98 per USD, respectively, with a major fluctuation.
With this, th Indian Currency has edged down by 49 in couple of days.
The rupee fell today due to Dollar's gains overseas against other major world currencies and sliding equity market also dampened the sentiment, dealers added.
