'Dabangg 2' hit the screens today and there are expectations Khan's mass appeal will ensure audiences will flock to the cinema halls.

Expressing happiness over the positive response to the film even before its official release, the film's heroine Sonakshi Sinha said: "I am watching the film for the first time with my family. I am very excited as the reaction to the film has been very positive. Arbaaz Khan has been appreciated for his direction. The sequel has got better reviews and I am hoping for the best."

Salman Khan's younger brother and Bollywood producer-director, Sohail Khan said: "I have always said that Salman Khan can adapt himself to different roles and portray various emotions such as romance, drama and action with ease in the same film. He cannot get stuck to one genre of action, you can actually utilize him for different emotions and he scores in them a lot."

Salman Khan is popular with both multiplex and single-screen audiences in India, but says it is tougher to be an actor now than it was when he made his debut in the 1980s.

He reprises the role of a notorious cop in the film that promises to offer romance, comedy, drama and action.
