Expert's take on IAS

'Life in public services such as IAS, IPS among others is very different from how it is portrayed in the movies.

'The key skills required for an IAS officer are good language skills, commitment, hard work and analytical skills rather than brilliance in a particular subject,' according to Dr B Ashok IAS, Vice-Chancellor, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Wayanad.

He was interacting with college students via Amrita University's e-learning platform A-VIEW as part of Amrita E-Learning Research Lab's Online Gurukul Weekly Session, an Amrita press release said here today.

He underlined that civil services examination was a test to analyse basic skills in depth.

Till the late 80s, the largest cities used to send the highest number of civil servants but now group B towns send more number of IAS officers.
