Pailan Group, which sponsor AIFF's developmental football side Indian Arrows, will host Bengal junior football tournament with top teams in the districts and metro in association with the Indian Football Association (IFA).
There will be junior teams from top clubs, like East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting and some of the residential academies like Pailan Arrows and IFA Pailan would take part in the tournament.
Unveiling the tournament details IFA secretary Utpal Ganguly and Pailan Group chief Apurba Saha told reporters that 20 teams, one team from each district, divided in four zones - West, South, North and East, to play home and away match from Dec 20.
There will be two opening plays Nadia versus Hoogly at Chakdah Stadium in Nadia, and Midnapore against Manbhum (Purulia) at Sri Aurobinda Stadium, Midnapore, on Thursday.
They said in the qualifying round of the tournament teams will be divided in two groups, with one to be played in the districts with top teams of each of the district and the other to be played in Kolkata with the junior team of premier division teams and few residential teams.
In the qualifying round teams of the district will as well as teams from Kolkata will be divided in four groups and teams of each of the group will play against each other on a round robin basis.
The top teams from each group will then play on a home and away basis against each other and the top 4 teams will then qualify to lay semi finals and the final matches.
Whilst the north zone will play at Jalpaiguri Sports Complex ground, Enayetpur in Malda will be venue for East Zone, Aurobinda Stadium in Midnapore will be west zone ground and Chakdah Stadium in Nadia will be venue for south zone.
While the winner take home Rs 2 lakh the runners up purse will be Rs 1.25 lakh.
The final and two semifinals are expected to be held at Pailan stadium.
The tournament will be completed by Feb 15.
