Dean Jones says privilege to work as mentor with Australian team
Former Australia batsman Dean Jones has accepted an invitation from captain Michael Clarke and Mickey Arthur to be a team mentor for the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, saying that it would be an honour and privilege to be involved with the team once again.
"'It's an honour and a privilege to work with the team again," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Jones, as saying.
Jones's recruitment is part of an initiative driven by Clarke, who wants to have past players more involved with the national team.
Former Test batsman Greg Blewett performed a similar role in Adelaide against South Africa.
Jones said: "I think it's just to have one of the old buggers walking around talking about a few old stories."
The Tonk is expecting several recall of Jones's famous innings in the tied Test in Chennai, then called Madras, in 1986 when he battled heat exhaustion to make a heroic double century.
