Train services on Ranaghat-Krishnanagar section of Eastern Railway's Sealdah Division were disrupted for about three hours today because of obstruction on tracks by daily commuters.
The obstruction was made to protest an RPF drive against regular practice of seat cornering by a section of daily passengers in Krishnanagar-Sealdah EMU locals, Eastern Railway sources here informed.
The raid was conducted after railway authorities received a number of complaints from bonafide passengers about the non-availability of seats because of forceful and unauthorised cornering of seats by a section of daily passengers.
Normal train services resumed after the intervention of local authorities.
However, as a result 14 long distance and local trains were detained or cancelled en route, the sources added.
