Trade union volunteers court arrest

Hundreds of trade union volunteers put up road blockades at eight places in Puducherry and Karaikal regions of the union territory and courted arrest as part of the nationwide agitation by trade unions to protect labour rights.
Trade union volunteers, including those from AITUC, CITU, INTUC, BMS and AICCTU participated.
Their demands included protection of labour rights, curbing price rise and provision of assured bonus to all sections.
