A life-size statue of former Ranji cricket player late B B Nimbalkar alias Bhausaheb will be erected here shortly to inspire the budding young cricketers, said Ajay Shirke, president of Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) today.
Interacting with reporters at Nagal Park after meeting the bereaved family members of Nimbalkar, he said that a Guidance Centre for young players will also built along with the statue.
Shirke further said that the MCA will give a financial help to the Nimbalkar family. All these issues will be discussed in MCA's meeting tomorrow.
He asked the Kolhapur Sports Association (KSA) to find land for a cricket ground in the city, and said that MCA was ready to give all assistance to build the cricket ground in Kolhapur.
Earlier, Shirke offered his condolences to the family members of Nimbalkar, who passed away on December 11. He was accompanied by Dhanpal Shah, vice-president of MCA, and Sanjay Jagdale, secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
