The Lok Sabha today passed 347-0 a constitutional amendment Bill seeking to establish a separate development board for Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde moved the Constitution (One Hundred-Eighteenth Amendment) Bill, 2012 (Insertion of new article (371j) which was welcomed by members.
HD Deve Goda of JD(S) congratulated the Home Minister for taking up the amendment and said it would go a long way in developing the areas concerned.
Saugata Roy of All India Trinamool Congress said his party wants development of these areas. He said it was good that development board was created.
"This is an effort to bring in good change. So, we welcome it," he said.
Mr Roy also said the members were duty-bound to work for development of the entire country.
Anant Gangaram Geete, Shiv Sena, Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM, Lalu Prasad, RJD, and Putul Kumar (Independent) said the Bill was good and supported it.
