5 killed, one injured

Five people, including a Professor of Government Arts College were killed while one person was critically injured in two different road accidents in the Southern district of Ramanathapuram, today.

Police said a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus collided head on with a Car at Achunthanvayal village, killing the three occupants of the Car, including Soundarapandi (43), who is working as Economics Professor in Sethupathi Government Arts College in Ramanathapuram, his one-and-half year old daughter S.Keerthi and aunt Soundaravalli (50). Another occupant of the car one Mahendran (38) was critically injured in the mishap and was admitted to the government hospital. They were coming to Ramanathapuram from their native Mennandhi village, when the tragedy occurred.

In another accident, two youths, identified as Rahman (23) and Basith (25) were killed, when a motorcycle on which they were riding was hit by a Car at Servaikkaran Urani village under Uchapuli police limits. Police are investigating.
