The State-owned Tamil nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation, popularly known as 'Poompuhar,' inaugurated its 15-day annual 'Christmas and New Year Fest,' an exclusive exhibition of gifts and novelties here last night.
In a press release here today, Poomphar Show Room Manager A N Xavier said in addition to marketing through their showrooms, they held such seasonal exhibitions all over the country round the year and this year alone, over 200 exhibitions were held in the country and abroad.
The offerings include statues of Jesus Christ in papier mache, clay and marble.
Crib sets of different sizes, brass flower vases, bowls, silk stoles and scarves, Tanjore painting,rosewood panels,gemstone and jewellery were also on sale at the fest.
He said they had fixed a sales target of Rs five lakh during the current exhibition as against last year's Rs 2.5 lakh.
