CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) today staged a walk-out from the Kerala Assembly in protest against the government's denial for discussing issues in agricultural sector due to severe drought.
Seeking the leave of the House to move an adjournment motion in this regard, Former Minister (CPI) Mullakara Ratnakaran alleged the the state failed to get its due share of water from Tamil Nadu for Chittoorpuzha Irrigation Project under PAP in Chittur Taluk of Palakkad District.
Alleging Tamil Nadu was not honoring the inter-State Parambikulam-Aliyar River Pact, he said as many as 40,000 acres of paddy were facing ruin due to lack of water in Palakkad.
In his reply, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the State had already sent a letter to Tamil Nadu informing them of their failure in providing water to Kerala under the agreement.
