Kerala in dire straits as Tamil Nadu spinners dominate
Kerala were in dire straits losing two wickets for 96 runs, following on 172 runs behind Tamil Nadu's first innings score of 346 at stumps on the penultimate day of the four-day All India Under 19 cricket championship for Cooch Behar Trophy here today.
The Tamil Nadu bowlers earlier bowled out the Kerala boys for a paltry score of 174 when the latter resumed their first innings at the overnight score of 34 for 2. Tamil Nadu captain B Indrajit, bowling leg spin picked up 4-30, off spinner Sharukh Khan 3-51 and left arm spinner Vignesh Kannan 2-15 as the Kerala batsmen proved inadequate handling spin.
Only Aquib Fazal (56, 146 bls, seven fours) managed to make a mark. However, in Kerala's second innings Vishnu Vinor who made 23 in the first kock, stood up to the Tamil Nadu bowlers batting on 62 off 53 bls, inclusive of four fours and an equal number of sixes. Tamil Nadu's left arm spinner Akash Ram picked up both the wickets that fell conceding 13 runs.
