The Duchess of Cambridge made her first public appearance since she got hospitalised due to severe morning sickness, when she attended the BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony at London's ExCeL centre to present two honours on Sunday.

Wearing an emerald green floor-length dress, the 30-year-old Royal presented cyclist Bradley Wiggins with the top award, Sky New reported.

The 30-year-old royal, who is an official ambassador of Britain's Olympic and Paralympic teams, stayed to meet some of this year's sporting heroes, including Sports Personality runners-up Jessica Ennis.

She also presented Lord Sebastian Coe with a lifetime achievement honour.

Following the ceremony Kate said she was "very well" when asked about her condition, after she was forced to miss two royal engagements while recovering from her sickness.

She later confessed to Paralympic athlete Martine Wright, who picked up the Helen Rollason accolade, that her time on stage had been scary.
