Color of Sky (Akasathinte Niram), written and directed by Dr Biju, has finally made it to the highest international honors for cinematic excellence, the Oscars.
Color of Sky is the first Malayalam movie to have garnered such a great honour. Though the movie first couldn't make it for the 'Best Foreign Film Category' it has made it to the top 282 list of the Oscar selected movies in the 'Best Picture' category, a release said here today.
The movie was selected to eighth Eurasia international film festival, 48th Chicago International film festival USA, South Asian Film Festival, Vancouver, 43rd International film festival India, Kolkata International film festival, India and 17th International film festival Kerala, India and is the very first Malayalam film to compete for Golden Goblet award at 15th Shanghai international film festival. It was screened at California, Laemmle Theater at Fallbrook starting November 2 to 8 as part of its Oscar qualifying run.
Malayalam Industry would indeed be proud today as it has finally made its impact felt at the Hollywood. Gone were the days when getting to the threshold of prestigious awards like Oscars was considered a herculean task.
Today, even the regional language movies from the largest movie producing country, India has come up the ladder to make their unique mark on award ceremonies.
