The eight-day Kochi International Film Festival, which kicked off with the screening of Bolovian filam 'Pacha' directed by Hector Ferreiro, will be inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy at a glittering ceremony today evening.
The first ever festival in the business city, is being organised jointly by the district administration, Kochi Corporation, Cochin Film Society, Metro Film Society, District Tourism Promotion Council, and Information and Public Relations Department.
Films will be screened at Saritha, Savitha, Sangeetha and Sridhar theatres, Durbar Hall Ground, and the Children's Theatre.
Five films from Thailand, eight from Poland, and six from Iran will be part of the package of 50 foreign language films to be screened at the fest.
Sri Lankan filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage's 'With You Without You', Filipino director Brillante Mendoza's 'Daewoos', Korean director Jeon Kyu-hwan's film 'The Weight', Israeli filmmaker Dan Wolman's 'Ben's Biography', 'Tied Hands' and 'Valley of Strength' will also be screened.
There would be 18 films in the separate category of Malayalam films and in the indian film category, films from Hindi (Three) and one Tule film.
