Energy auditing in govt establishments on consumption: CS

Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Ms Minnie Mathew today said that it is mandatory to take up energy auditing and accounting in all Government establishments at the initial stage.

While launching the aggressive communication strategy, on the occasion of the 'World Energy Conservation Day' here, Ms Minnie Mathew also directed officials to expedite comprehensive energy auditing of AP Secretariat, BRKR Bhavan, Vidyut Soudha on war footing for reducing the energy consumption t the lowest possible figure.

In order to mitigate power shortage problem to the maximum extent possible, Andhra pradesh government has adopted a 3 pronged strategy for focussing on energy conservation and Energy Efficiency (EC and EE) programmes for the benefit of the state/utilities as well as public at large, she said.

Aggressive communication strategy plays a pivotal role in taking the message of Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency (EC and EE) measures to the door steps of each and every consumer, the Chief Secretary said in this regard, she has directed the heads of sub-groups to submit the reports/recommendations for notifying the ECB code and effective implementation of DSM measures, at the earliest.

"Though the Government has achieved installed capacity of around 16000 MW, we have not been able to generate even 10,000 MW due to unprecedented shortage of fuel," she said.

In spite of the Government is putting all out its efforts to provide power supply to the maximum extent possible, giving utmost priority for agriculture sector.

During the FY 2011-12, AP supplied about 18,225 MU for agriculture services of around 31.5 lakh alone. Except the State of Maharashtra, the Number of agriculture pump sets in Andhra Pradesh is the highest in the Country, she said.

On the occasion of World Energy Conservation Day, Ms Mathew appealed to all the electricity consumers to treat energy conservation as a social responsibility and to strictly adopt energy conservation measures in view of 10 units saved is equivalent to 12 units generated.

Earlier, Ms Mathew, who is also Chairperson for the State Energy Conservation Mission(SECM) released the energy conservation campaign posters, prepared by the Mission.
