Janata Dal (Secular) today petitioned Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj to reject the Karnataka Cow Slaughter Bill passed in both the Houses yesterday.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the Governor at the Raj Bhavan, JD(S) State President and Lok Sabha member H D Kumaraswamy said a memorandum was submitted in this regard and also not to approve bill passed for establishment of eight Private Universities since all these bills were passed without discussion.
Mr Kumaraswamy said that the Cow Slaughter ban bill affected minority community. 'When the Bill, which was earlier passed by the Yeddyurappa government, was pending for approval with the President, what is the need for new Bill,' he questioned.
Passing of the Private University Bill, which was also passed in the recently concluded Session in the middle of walkout, will affect social justice.
