Apart from finding new energy sources that are conducive to the environment of Kerala, it is the necessity of the time to strengthen the activities to protect the same, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here today.
He was speaking after distributing the energy conservation awards instituted for persons and organisations that showed excellence in conserving energy.
He also inaugurated the International seminar conducted jointly by Energy Management Centre and Japanese Cultural and Information Centre.
"Energy conservation is a subject widely discussed in the world. There cannot be development without electricity.
Energy should be protected at any cost. Several cautions steps need to be taken to protect energy," he said.
He also pointed out the need to protect energy resources mainly under present circumstances where we are not able to get sanction for new projects in the name of environmental problems. Electricity Minister Aryadan Muhammad, K Muraleedharan MLA and others were also present.
