After over five months of uncertainty, the union HRD ministry has appointed renowned engineer and researcher Anjan Kumar Ghosh as the new vice-chancellor of Tripura University, an official said here Saturday.
Ghosh, now professor of Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communications Technology in Gujarat's Gandhinagar, replaced Professor Arunoday Saha, whose tenure had ended July but is still continuing.
Ghosh is expected to join at the end of this month.
"We received a communication from the union ministry of human resource development (HRD) Friday evening about the appointment of a new vice-chancellor for Tripura University," varsity Registrar K.B. Jamatia told reporters.
Tripura University is a central university.
Ghosh was instrumental in developing the US Air Force research lab, fog vision for Indian Railways and establishing an intelligent control laboratory for the union ministry of science and technology.
