The number of cases of theft and pilferage on Indian goods trains in 2011 was 941, parliament was told Friday.
Minister of State for Railways informed the Rajya Sabha that the number stood at 1,391 in 2009 and 1,372 in 2010.
He said the railways had taken several corrective steps, including by asking the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to escort goods trains carrying valuable commodities in vulnerable sections.
