A 35-year-old maid committed suicide by hanging herself from a shower head in her employer's bathroom at Neelayi Apartments in Chembur, police said.
Victim Sangita Jadhav, a married woman from Satara, had been staying in Mumbai for two months, working and residing in a house owned by Preeti Tushar Parikh. Jadhav had gone for a bath at 0630 hrs yesterday and didn't come out for half an hour. When Parikh knocked the door at 0700 hrs, there was no reply.
The family then opened the door with a key and found Jadhav hanging by her dupatta from the shower head.
The body has been sent to JJ Hospital for post-mortem.
"We do not have any clue about her family background or the reason why she committed suicide", said Police Sub-Inspector S S Dalvi.
