The Supreme Court today issued notices to the Centre on a petition filed by Mr N K Kalia seeking directions to the Ministry of External Affairs to take up the matter with Pakistan Government pertaining to the torture of his son captain Saurabh Kalia during Kargil war.
Captain Kalia was brutally tortured and his highly mutilated body was handed over to India.
Mr Kalia in his petition has prayed that Pakistan government should be punished for warcrime.
His son was captured by Pak troops during 1999 Kargil war.
A bench comprising Justices R M Lodha and Anil R Dave has sought the response of the Centre within 10 weeks.
Mr Kalia has also approached UNHRC for punishing those responsible for torturing and killing his son while he was in Pakistan army's captivity.
