'AIADMK Govt. filed false cases against my son: Alagiri
Senior DMK leader and Union Minister M K Alagiri today charged the ruling AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu of indulging in 'political vendetta' by foisting false cases against his son Durai Dayanidhi.
Alagiri, who is DMK's Southern satrap accompanied by hundreds of party men and party leaders came to Melur from Madurai along with Durai Dayanidhi, who had surrendered before the Melur Judicial Magistrate (JM) Court, four days after he was granted conditional anticipatory bail by the Madurai bench of Madras High Court.
However, Alagiri stayed away from the court and waited in his office, till the judicial formalities were completed.
'Had I felt that my son was guilty, I would have asked him to surrender. Since, it was a fabricated case foisted against Dayanidhi with ulterior political vendetta and to malign his (Dayanidhi) name, we have decided to face it legally,' Alagiri told reporters.
Dayanidhi gave up his position as Director of Olympus Granites Private Limited, which was accused of indulging in illegal granite mining, in the year 2010 itself. There is no connection between Olympus firm and Dayanidhi, he said.
Answering a query, Alagiri said that 'he (Dhayanidhi) had not run away. "We have surrendered his passport to the Court."
