Durai Dayanidhi surrenders before Madurai court
Union Minister M.K. Alagiri's son Durai Dayanidhi, who was on the run since August in connection to a granite mining case, surrendered at a Madurai court on Friday, reports said.
Madras High Court earlier this week granted anticipatory bail to Durai in connection to a granite mining case.
Durai, who is the grandson of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief M Karunanidhi, is among those accused of illegal mining for granite in and around Madurai.
The DMK has been accusing Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa and her party All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) of slapping fake cases on its leaders.
However, police claim they have strong evidence against Olympus Granites, the company in which Durai is director.
