The Rupee depreciated today by 15 paise to to 54.47 against the US Dollar on rising demand for US Dollars by banks and importers, dealers at the inter-bank foreign exchange said.
The domestic unit advanced by 17 paise to 54.15 in the opening trade. It had rallied by 22 paise during the day.
Later, it was slipped and closed at 54.47, declining by 15 paise from its previous close.
High fluctuation was witneseed as it registered the days high and low at 54.52 and 54.10 per US Dollar respectively.
The Rupee ended negative today following Dollar's gain against other world currencies and sliding share market also put the rupee down, dealers added.
